Poroshenko: Worst scenario of Russian Federation stopped

The support and specific actions of Ukraine’s international partners, their pressure on the Kremlin along with the introduction of martial law in ten regions of Ukraine stopped the worst scenario of the Russian Federation.

“I emphasize once again that the martial law along with the support and specific actions of our international partners, their current pressure on the Kremlin have stopped the worst scenario the Russian Federation was planning. Our military personnel, our diplomats, our partners prevented Putin from crossing a new red line," President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He added that the national interests of Ukraine would be defended in the UN Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly, NATO, the OSCE and the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, the European Union, the G7 “with a clear stance and using other directions."

As reported, on November 25, Russian border ships committed the acts of aggression against three Ukrainian ships heading from the port of Odesa to the port of Mariupol. The Russian special forces fired and seized three Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait and 24 sailors aboard.

On November 26, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law approving the decree of the President of Ukraine on the imposition of the martial law for 30 days in 10 regions of Ukraine in connection with the aggression of Russia.

The martial law ended today, on December 26, at 14:00.
