Poroshenko meets with EBRD President

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti, the president’s press service reports.

“The Head of State welcomed the adoption of the new Strategy of the Bank on Ukraine for 2018-2023 by the Board of Directors of the EBRD in October. The President of Ukraine noted the importance of large infrastructure projects and projects implemented in the sphere of security, with the involvement of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, such as the Beskydy railway tunnel, the work on the confinement shelter project and other projects in the Chornobyl zone,” reads the report

Petro Poroshenko offered the EBRD to invest in the targeted programs of social and economic development of the Ukrainian Azov region.

Also, the parties discussed the process of reforms carried out in Ukraine, in particular, in the field of management of state-owned banks.

The EBRD President assured that the Bank will support structural changes in Ukraine through investments and financing of infrastructure, municipal and other important projects.

Suma Chakrabarti also congratulated the people of Ukraine on the establishment of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
