CEC of Ukraine terminates Protocol on Cooperation with CEC of Russia

The Central Election Commission of Ukraine stated about the termination of the Protocol on Cooperation with the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation due to the termination of the Treaty on Friendship between Ukraine and Russia, the commission’s press service reports.

"Considering the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine ‘On termination of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on December 12, 2018, the Central Election Commission announces the termination of the Protocol on Cooperation between the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation and the Central Election Commission of Ukraine as of February 24, 2000, which releases the Commission from the obligation to fulfill it,” the Ukrainian CEC noted.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada approved the law on termination of the treaty on friendship with the Russian Federation on December 6. President Petro Poroshenko signed the document on December 10.

On December 11, the law was published in the Ukrainian parliament's Holos Ukrainy newspaper.
