Russian law enforcers detain Crimean Tatar activist – Chubarov

Russia’s security forces have detained a citizen of Ukraine, a Crimean Tatar activist, Edem Bekirov, according to Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov.

"On December 12, 2018, a citizen of Ukraine, a Crimean Tatar activist, Edem Bekirov, born in 1961, a resident of the village of Novooleksiivka in Kherson region, was detained at the entrance to Russian-occupied Crimea," Chubarov said.

Edem Bekirov was going to visit his 78-year-old mother and relatives in Crimea.

He was detained about 08:30 am at the border crossing from Kherson region to the occupied Crimea.
