Poroshenko urges to ban Russian ships from entering ports of Europe and US
“I want to convey an absolutely clear message: Ukrainian merchant ships and Ukrainian naval forces act in accordance with the norms of international law,” President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said in an interview with Fox News, the press service of the Head of State reports.
He noted that Ukrainian military vessels should not have made a request or asked any other form of coordination from the Russian Federation pursuant to the international agreements. Poroshenko also stressed that all Russian companies operating in the Kerch Strait were on the sanctions lists of the United States and the European Union and cooperation with them was illegal.
“Russia opposes the entire world. Russia blocks the freedom of navigation in the Ukrainian territorial waters,” Poroshenko said.
“In this situation, Russian ships should be banned from entering European and American ports,” the President of Ukraine emphasized.
Ukraine is ready to coordinate the actions with its partners on this issue, he said.
