Klimkin, Mogherini discuss improvement of EU sanctions policy towards Russia
The press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported this following the meeting of Klimkin and Mogherini on the margins of the 25th session of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan.
"The minister told the EU high representative about the evidence of the planned implementation of the act of undisguised aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in the Kerch Strait area and, as a result, worsening security situation in the Black and Azov Seas ... The parties also discussed ways to improve the sanctions policy against Russia over undermining of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the EU’s support for reforms in the security and defense sectors of Ukraine and for the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU," the report reads.
In addition, the parties discussed the situation in Donbas and the prospects for deploying a UN peacekeeping mission in support of the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
As reported, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini invited Klimkin to attend a meeting of the EU foreign ministers on December 10 in order to discuss further common actions.
The Council of the European Union at the level of foreign ministers of the EU member states will meet on December 10 to discuss Russia's aggressive actions in the Sea of Azov.
