Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, has called on Macedonia to impose sanctions against Russia.

She said this at a meeting with Prime Minister of Macedonia Zoran Zaev during her working visit to Croatia, the Government portal reported.

"Russia does not demonstrate progress in the implementation of the PACE resolutions regarding Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. The recent acts of provocation by Russia in the Sea of Azov, fake elections in Donbas on November 11, no progress in the release of Ukrainian political prisoners - this list could go on,” the vice prime minister noted.

She called on the Republic of Macedonia, as a friendly country and a candidate state for EU membership, to impose sanctions against Russia and join European policy in this direction.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed common challenges and strategic goals in countering Russian intervention and developments on the path to EU and NATO membership. In turn, Zaev noted that Macedonia’s membership in NATO meant peace and stability in the country. He expressed hope that Ukraine would join the Alliance in the future.
