Ukraine closes entry to Russian-occupied Crimea for foreigners

Ukraine's administrative border with Russian-occupied Crimea will be closed to foreigners while martial law is in force in the country, spokesperson for the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service Andriy Demchenko has told Ukrinform.

"It is possible to cross the administrative border with the occupied peninsula exclusively with Ukrainian documents. Foreigners who stay in the occupied peninsula will be able to leave. If foreigners [...] who have legally entered the temporarily occupied Crimea until now, they will be freely admitted to mainland Ukraine," he said.

On November 26, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law approving a presidential decree on the introduction of martial law in Ukraine for 30 days in ten regions of the country due to Russian aggression in the Sea of Azov.

On November 28, President Petro Poroshenko signed the law approving his decree on the introduction of martial law in Ukraine.

On November 25, Russian border ships committed aggressive actions against Ukrainian vessels that set sail from the port of Odesa to the port of Mariupol. Russian special forces fired on and captured three Ukrainian ships and 24 sailors in the Kerch Strait.
