Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his wife Maryna Poroshenko honored memory of the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, the press service of the head of state has reported.

Petro and Maryna Poroshenko laid wheat ears at the Memorial Cross to the Victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine on Mykhailivska Square in Kyiv. They observed a minute of silence for those who died during those terrible years.

Today, on the Day of Remembrance of the Holodomor Victims, along with a national minute of silence, the nationwide event "Light up a Candle" will be held at 16.00. Everyone is welcome to light a candle and put it on a window sill, thus honoring the memory of the millions of Ukrainians who were killed by the Holodomor in Ukraine.
