Ukraine, Hungary discuss schedule of bilateral events for near future
"The parties emphasized the importance of active dialogue at the level of heads of foreign ministries of Ukraine and Hungary as an effective factor in the establishment of mutually acceptable solutions to problematic issues. In this context, the schedule of bilateral events for the near future was discussed," the statement said.
According to the press service, Ijgyarto confirmed Hungary's unwavering support for the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders and his country's willingness to expand Ukrainian-Hungarian cooperation, especially in the economic and humanitarian spheres. In this context, the Hungarian side expressed its interest in implementing a number of joint projects in Ukraine.
Bodnar, in turn, praised Hungary's readiness to maintain constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with Ukraine and expressed the readiness of the Ukrainian side to support Hungary in all its initiatives that will promote the deepening of bilateral cooperation.
On November 14, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Vasyl Bodnar received copies of credentials from newly appointed Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine Istvan Ijgyarto.
It was reported earlier that relations between Hungary and Ukraine had escalated after the adoption of the Ukrainian law on education, which defines Ukrainian as the language of instruction in the country. Hungary said the law allegedly violates the rights of the Hungarian minority. Ukraine denied these allegations, but Budapest blocked Ukraine's rapprochement with NATO, where all decisions are made only by consensus.
