Canada is deeply concerned about the so-called “elections” in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions held on November 11.

Global Affairs Canada issued a statement on the illegitimate elections in eastern Ukraine held on November 11, 2018.

“Canada is deeply concerned about illegitimate elections in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine on November 11. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected," the statement reads.

Global Affairs Canada also condemned Russian actions that "disregard international norms and further threaten lives in eastern Ukraine."

“Canada remains concerned about the ongoing situation in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine as a direct result of Russian aggression. Since 2014, Canada has committed over $750 million in international assistance to Ukraine, including development, stabilization and security, and humanitarian assistance,” the statement says.

Global Affairs Canada noted that “Canadians will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine.”

As reported, pro-Russian militants in Donbas held the so-called "elections" in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions on November 11.
