Ukrainian president receives credentials from ambassadors of four countries

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has received credentials from the newly appointed ambassadors to Ukraine - the State of Israel, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Belgium and the Republic of Iceland, the press service of the head of state has reported.

The report notes that the president and Israeli Ambassador Joel Lion "expressed content with the intensive dynamics of political dialogue between the two states and the level of Ukraine-Israel cooperation."

Special attention was paid to the enhancement of bilateral trade-economic cooperation, particularly the importance of prompt signing of the free trade agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Israel.

The parties also discussed cooperation within the UN and other international organizations.

At the same time, during the conversation with Ambassador of Qatar to Ukraine Hadi Al Hajri, the parties reached an agreement on the necessity of supporting the high level of political dialogue, as well as increasing the interaction in trade, economic, investment and energy spheres. They also stressed the importance of launching the work of the joint intergovernmental commission for economic, trade and technical cooperation in November.

The head of state praised the completion of the internal state procedures for the entry into force of the agreement on mutual abolition of visa requirements between Ukraine and Qatar and the introduction of the visa-free regime for the citizens of the two countries on November 2, 2018.

The parties stressed the importance of prompt ratification of bilateral agreements on facilitation and mutual protection of investments, as well as prevention of double taxation.

The president thanked Qatar for the unwavering clear support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within the UN and other international organizations.

During the conversation with Ambassador of Belgium Alex Lenaerts, the parties confirmed mutual interest in maintaining positive dynamics of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as supported the need to intensify political dialogue.

Poroshenko expressed gratitude to Belgium for a clear and unchanging position in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as practical assistance provided by the Belgian side in the context of overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression. Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation within the UN, taking into account Belgium's membership in the Security Council in the period of 2019-2020.

During the conversation with Ambassador of Iceland Arni Thor Sigurdsson, the head of state stressed the importance of intensifying trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Iceland. The president thanked the Icelandic government for solidarity with Ukraine in the issue of sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the clear policy of sanctions.
