“The Conservative Party of Canada will always be a reliable voice in support of the people of free and democratic Ukraine,” party leader Andrew Scheer said on the occasion of the unveiling of the Holodomor victims memorial in Toronto, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to him, some of the lessons learned during the Holodomor are still relevant. “The lessons of the Holodomor are still relevant as Ukraine continues to fight against the repressive Moscow regime. The regime is trying to force Ukrainians to bow to its will, inciting violence and undermining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” he stressed.
Scheer also praised the active standing of Ukrainian organizations in Canada involved in the construction of the memorial. “I praise the leadership role of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress in Toronto and other diaspora organizations and individuals involved in the construction of the memorial to the victims of the Holodomor. It will serve as a place of remembrance, commemoration and public education,” the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada noted.
As reported, the memorial to the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine was unveiled in Toronto on Sunday.
