The EU strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, and the EU's approaches to the application of sanctions against Russia remain unchanged.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said this during a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in New York, the Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

"The European Union fully supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders," Mogherini stressed.

The EU High Representative confirmed the unchanged approach of the EU to the issue of applying sanctions against Russia with a view to fully implementing the Minsk agreements, as well as restoring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Klimkin, in turn, stressed the need for further active involvement of the EU in the process of stabilizing the situation in eastern Ukraine, and expressed gratitude for the extension of the EU sanctions against Russia and the expansion of the sanctions list by including companies involved in the construction of the Kerch Strait bridge.

In this context, the interlocutors agreed on the need for a separate discussion of Russia's actions in the Sea of Azov that pose a threat to the companies of the EU member states that enter Ukrainian ports.

The sides also discussed topical issues of Ukraine-EU bilateral relations, including preparations for the 5th Meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council, which will be held in Brussels on December 17, as well as the Eastern Partnership Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for October 15 in Luxembourg.

Klimkin expressed interest in organizing a visit of EU High Representative Federica Mogherini to Ukraine by the end of this year.
