Ukrainian, Slovak presidents discuss trade, security, EU integration

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with Slovak President Andrej Kiska to discuss bilateral cooperation, the security situation in the region and the need to release Ukrainian hostages of the Kremlin.

The meeting between them was held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

The leaders of both countries positively assessed current trends in trade between the two countries. The presidents also agreed on the need to hold a meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation in the near future.

Taking into account Slovakia's upcoming chairmanship of the OSCE, the heads of state agreed on the need to strengthen the role of this organization in monitoring the situation in Donbas, as well as the release of Ukrainian prisoners of the Kremlin.

In addition, they discussed cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia in European integration, as well as interaction in international organizations.
