NATO more effective than Budapest Memorandum - Poroshenko

More than 50% of Ukrainians support the movement to NATO, because, unlike the Budapest Memorandum and other documents, the North Atlantic Alliance has proved to be the only effective instrument for ensuring national security.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko wrote this on his Facebook page.
"Today, more than 70% of Ukrainians firmly support the movement that I follow - the movement towards the European Union. More than 50% of Ukrainians support the movement to NATO as a key factor in ensuring the security of the state. Unlike the Budapest Memorandum and other documents, has proved to be the only effective tool for ensuring national security, "the head of state wrote.
He noted that Ukraine had not asked and would not ask the aggressor country or Putin for permission for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
"This is an exclusively sovereign right of the Ukrainian people," Poroshenko wrote.
