Sixteen vessels unlawfully entered ports of occupied Crimea in August

 “On August 1-31, sixteen cargo vessels and tankers entered the ports of the occupied Crimea. Fifteen of them were under the flag of the Russian Federation, one – the flag of the Togolese Republic,” the press service of the Ministry of Ukraine for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons reports.

In addition, eight vessels flying the flags of the Russian Federation were recorded in the water areas of the ports of Sevastopol, Feodosia and Kerch used for parking.

The Ministry reminds that the seaports located on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (Yevpatoria, Kerch, Sevastopol, Feodosia, Yalta) were closed at the direction of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and pursuant to the order of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine.

The entry of vessels flying foreign flags into the closed seaports and terminals located on the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol is a violation of the norms of the international law as actions that undermine the sovereignty of Ukraine and also violate Ukrainian legislation and entail the liability for shipowners, operators and captains, in particular, criminal liability.

In June, 21 cargo vessels and tankers unlawfully entered the ports of the occupied Crimea in August.
