Russia blocking in Minsk search for missing persons – Gerashchenko

Ukrinform
At negotiations in Minsk, the Russian Federation is blocking the creation of a mechanism for searching missing persons.

Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group for Donbas Iryna Gerashchenko stated this during a press conference held at Ukrinform.

"Unfortunately, because of absolutely destructive position of the Russian Federation and its puppets from the so-called "ORDO" and "ORLO" in the Minsk Group, we did not make progress on the extremely important issue of creating mechanisms for the search for missing persons with the participation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine, Russia and invite those "comrades" who are de facto in the occupied territories," she said.

Gerashchenko noted that Russia in Minsk still took the position "we are not there."

She stressed that the Ukrainian side insisted on creating the mechanism for searching for missing persons in the same way as previously created in Georgia, with the participation of the ICRC and representatives of the Russian Federation.
