U.S. aims to provide assistance to civil society in Ukraine – Yovanovitch

The United States aims to provide assistance to civil society in Ukraine to support further efforts to strengthen the country's capability.

Ambassador of the United States to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch said this at the international volunteer and veteran forum "Ukraine Is Where We Are," an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Ukraine received help from us when it needed. Today, people in Ukraine are courageous and brave. On the Maidan, during the Revolution of Dignity, Ukrainians received a powerful impetus for new transformations. Thanks to international assistance, Ukrainians managed to make new changes in legislation and reform many areas. In Ukraine, as in the whole world, changes are taking place, and it is very important today to take care of the widows and orphans of Ukrainian soldiers. Consequently, we observe a positive experience of cooperation between the state officials and the Ukrainian society … Today, we are aimed at providing assistance to civil society so that it supports further actions to strengthen the country's potential. We are very happy to be partners of the Ukrainian government," Yovanovitch said.

At the same time, she stressed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was effective and proved that the Ukrainian society was resolute in its dialogue with the government.
