In 2018, the U.S. Congress can adopt a resolution on the recognition of the Holodomor (Famine) of 1932-1933 a genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly said this at a press conference at Ukrinform on Tuesday.

"The U.S. Congress tried twice to pass a resolution on the recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine as an act of genocide. The attempts failed ... We went the other way ... After sending letters to the governors, holding meetings in different states, the states have started to join this initiative every month (23 U.S. states have already supported us). And now we have a great support of the American people. Therefore, I hope that we are on the right track, and I hope that this resolution will be adopted by the Congress this year. We are working on this," Chaly noted.

At the same time, he stressed that there was an attempt by a third party to hinder this process.

As known, this year Ukraine celebrates the 85th anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932-1933.
