Defence Minister Sajjan: Canada firmly supports Ukraine
Canadian Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said this after completion of his visit to Latvia, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Canadian support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression is unwavering," Sajjan said.
According to him, the presence of Canada in Ukraine "allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the sovereignty of the country and promote regional and international stability."
"Our loyalty moves beyond military training. Within the framework of comprehensive support for Ukraine, Canada has provided the Armed Forces of Ukraine with non-lethal military equipment worth more than $16 million, and more things worth $7.25 million will be delivered by the end of March 2019," the minister said.
He stressed that Canada "is working persistently with partners to develop a safe, successful and democratic Ukraine."
"We are convinced that maintaining security in Eastern Europe helps preserve peace and security throughout the world," Sajjan summed up.
