The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) has welcomed the statement issued by the U.S. Secretary of State reaffirming the refusal of the United States to recognize the occupation by the Russian Federation of Crimea.

UWC President Eugene Czolij stated this on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The Ukrainian World Congress commends the United States and its Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for taking this principled position and urges the international community to echo this renewed call for an end to the occupation of Crimea and the restoration of respect for the territorial integrity of all independent states, including Ukraine, as a foundation of global peace and security,” stated Czolij.

As reported, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on July 25 issued the statement, titled "Crimea Declaration," in which he said the U.S. does not recognize Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea.
