U.S. position on Crimea remains unchanged – Yovanovitch

In response to journalists' request to comment on the alleged statements by Donald Trump, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch said this during a discussion at the Kyiv Security Forum "What to Expect of the 2018 NATO Summit?" in Kyiv on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Our position remains unchanged – Crimea is a part of Ukraine, and no changes are envisaged in this policy. I think it's very important to look at what the United States is doing. We provide support to Ukraine in various sectors and in various issues, including the issue of Crimea and security issues," the diplomat said.

Earlier, the American edition BuzzFeed News reported that U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly told the G7 leaders that Crimea was Russian since people there spoke Russian.

Spokeswoman for the White House Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she did not comment on "private conversations that she did not participate in."
