Pavel Filip calls for speeding up creation of joint checkpoints on Moldova-Ukraine border

Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip says that the process of creation of joint checkpoints at the central (Transnistrian) segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border should be accelerated.

The press service of the Moldovan government reported this following a working meeting of the heads of customs and border structures, according to own Ukrinform correspondent in the Republic of Moldova.

"The border police and the Moldovan Customs Service should begin negotiations with the Ukrainian side to complete the procedures on ensuring the full operation of the customs checkpoints. The head of the Moldovan government assured that together with Ukraine every effort will be made to sign a joint protocol decision on this matter soon,” reads the report.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the issue of extending the terms of exemption from customs duties for economic agents from the Transnistrian region, carrying out export-import operations through the joint check point Kuchurhan-Pervomaisc. The agreement was reached to extend these terms until January 1, 2019.
