A U.S. delegation led by President Donald Trump intends to support aspirations of Ukraine and Georgia towards NATO membership during the North Atlantic Alliance Summit in Brussels next week.

U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Ambassador Kay Bailey Hutchison stated this during a press briefing on Friday.

"We will also support aspirations of Georgia and Ukraine towards NATO membership, as well as their sovereignty, if we talk about the practical results of the summit," the American diplomat noted.

The ambassador also said that in addition to the main events of the Alliance, on July 12 President Trump will attend a meeting with the heads of Ukraine and Georgia, as well as partners from Afghanistan.

"Therefore, I believe this summit to be one of the most productive of those that we have ever had," the U.S. representative said.

As Ukrinform reported, the Summit of the North Atlantic Alliance will be held in Brussels in July 11-12. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also plans to take part in it.
