Denisova urges Mijatović to visit Ukrainian hostages in Russia

Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova intends to meet with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatović to ask her to visit Ukrainian hostages in Russia and the occupied Crimea.

She said this during a briefing in Moscow on June 29, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"My following actions are - I will inform the ambassadors of the "Normandy format" and the EU, as well as the United States, regarding Russia’s violations of international conventions, my mandate as an ombudsperson and violations of the agreements of the presidents. In the near future, I will visit Strasbourg to inform the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights about the fact that I have been not permitted to visit all Ukrainian hostages. I will urge her to visit Ukrainians in Russian prisons. I will also bring this information to the relevant missions of the UN and OSCE," Denisova said.

As reported, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova has stayed in Russia since June 15 and is constantly denied meetings with Ukrainian political prisoners.
