Ukraine sends protest note to Russia over denied access to Sentsov
This is stated on the website of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
"On June 28, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova has made another attempt to visit Ukrainian citizen Oleg Sentsov within the framework of monitoring visits. Due to the reasons unknown to Ukraine and despite the compliance with all the procedures by the Embassy, the administration of the penitentiary institution refused to allow Liudmyla Denisova visiting Oleg Sentsov," reads the document.
The Embassy notes that this situation proves Russia's reluctance to assist Denisova in implementing the agreements reached between Petro Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin.
The Ukrainian side voices its strong protest and calls on Russia to immediately allow Denisova visiting Ukrainian citizen Sentsov and to facilitate making other monitoring visits by the human rights commissioners of the two countries.
As reported, on June 28, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova has been denied access to the Russian penal colony in Labytnangi, where illegally imprisoned Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov is held. At the same time, Russian human rights commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova has visited Sentsov today. She claims that Sentsov’s medical condition is “satisfactory.”
