Parubiy discusses with U.S. congressmen mechanisms for supporting Ukrainian parliament

They met during a working visit of the Ukrainian speaker to the U.S., according to the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

"The parties discussed the mechanisms for supporting the institutional capacity of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the light of the joint memorandum between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Congress of the United States of America, signed by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan [signed in June 2017]," the report reads.

It is noted that the mechanisms to support the institutional capacity of the Parliament include, in particular, the involvement of experts from the United States to make recommendations on important reforms of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Parubiy thanks the U.S. congressmen for their preparation of the resolution that Holodomor is recognized as genocide of the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian speaker expresses hope that this resolution will be adopted by the U.S. Congress this year, because this year the whole world celebrates the 85th anniversary of Holodomor.
