Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andiry Parubiy has said that the parliament this week may approve at second reading the bill on Ukraine’s national security.

The speaker said this during a meeting of the Agenda-Setting Council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"This week is the deadline for us to adopt the draft law on the national security and defense, since the [NATO] summit will be held in July, and it is very important for us to show at the summit that Ukraine fulfills its obligations regarding cooperation with NATO and is on the path of reforms,” he said.

Parubiy also informed that the relevant parliamentary committee agreed all amendments to the bill and tomorrow, June 9, MPs will start considering the document at second reading.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on April 5, 2018 adopted at first reading a presidential bill on Ukraine's national security, which outlines the principles of state policy in the field of national security and defense, civilian control over the military sphere, as well as state protection strategies, in particular cybersecurity.
