Ukrainian, Serbian presidents meet in Turkey

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic have discussed the strengthening of economic cooperation and further liberalization of the visa regime.

A meeting between the leaders of the two countries was held in Turkey on Tuesday, according to the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state. 

"As part of his working visit to Turkey, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic. The parties discussed topical issues of the bilateral agenda," the report says.

The sides discussed the intensification of the political dialogue, as well as the strengthening of the economic component of relations.

"In this context, they emphasized the importance of holding in the near future another meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, as well as the expediency of continuing the organization of bilateral business forums," the press service said.

In addition, the sides agreed on the further liberalization of the visa regime and the development of people-to-people contacts.

The presidents paid attention to cooperation as part of international organizations and interaction in the humanitarian sphere.

The heads of the two states "agreed with the importance of strict adherence to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity."

On June 12, Poroshenko is on a working visit to Turkey where he will take part in the ceremony to launch of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline.
