Ukraine’s human rights commissioner asks Red Cross to check conditions of detention of Ukrainians in prisons in occupied territories

Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova has appealed to Vice-President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Gilles Carbonnier with a request to check the conditions of detention of the Ukrainian citizens in prisons in the occupied territories.

This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian human rights commissioner.

"I monitor the observance of rights of the Ukrainian citizens who are held in detention facilities in the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions," the ombudswoman's appeal to the vice-president of the ICRC reads.

In this regard, Denisova asked Carbonnier to help the ICRC’s representative to visit the detention facilities in the occupied territories and to check the conditions of detention of the Ukrainian citizens and the possibility of providing them with medical assistance.
