Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy will make an official visit to Washington in late June where, at a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress Paul Ryan, he will raise the issue of preventing the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.

The speaker said this during a panel "Countering New Security Challenges" as part of the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Conference "Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: Strengthening the Inter-Parliamentary Component of Regional and Security Cooperation, While Developing Interaction with the EU and NATO," according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The construction of the Nord Stream 2 is not an economic project. It is an exclusively political aggressive project of Russia. It is very symbolic that at the end of this month, June 27, when we are in Washington and have a meeting with Speaker Ryan, and Speakers of Georgia, Moldova, Lithuania and, hopefully, Poland, one of the topics of our discussion, in fact, will be the issue of preventing the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project," Parubiy said.
