Poroshenko, Putin agree on visits of human rights commissioners to prisoners

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The parties decided to give an opportunity to the human rights commissioners from both countries to visit prisoners.

This was reported by the press service of the head of the Ukrainian state on Saturday.

"Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stressed the importance of early release of Ukrainian political prisoners held in Russia and the occupied territories. The head of the Ukrainian state drew attention to the hunger strike launched by Ukrainians and expressed concern over deterioration of their health," the report reads.

The parties agreed that the human rights commissioners from both countries would visit detained citizens in the near future, Poroshenko's press service noted.
