Ambassador: Visits of German president, foreign minister to Ukraine prove further support

Visits of the president and the foreign minister of Germany to Ukraine prove the fact that Ukraine remains one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk said this in a commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"A double visit to Kyiv of the head of state and the chief diplomat of Germany within just a week is the clearest sign of support for President Petro Poroshenko personally and the reform efforts of the leadership of the state and the government. At the same time, it is a kind of ‘yellow card’ to those who mistakenly believe that Europe on the whole and Germany in particular have got tired of or disappointed in Ukraine," the ambassador said.

In his opinion, the upcoming visits have a very deep symbolic meaning: Ukraine remains a priority of Germany's foreign policy, being an integral part of the coalition agreement of the newly created federal government.
