The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea could deliver judgment on construction of the Kerch Bridge in the occupied Crimea by Russia in 2019.

Iryna Lutsenko, the representative of the President of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada, said this at the meeting of the agenda-setting council, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"I think that [International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea] could start to consider this issue by the end of 2018. We will wait for the result in 2019," Lutsenko noted.

She reminded that the world community, particularly the United States, the EU, NATO, the UK and Canada, had condemned the construction of the bridge.

Lutsenko also stressed that the President of Ukraine had instructed to submit a motion on protection of Ukraine's sovereign interests, including in connection with the construction of the Kerch Bridge, to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

The bridge across the Kerch Strait linking Russia's Taman Peninsula with Crimea was opened for regular traffic on May 15.
