Ukraine withdraws from CIS coordinating bodies

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine endorsed the proposal to terminate Ukraine's participation in the activities of the CIS coordinating bodies.

The corresponding decision was approved at the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine on Wednesday, May 2, the Council’s press service reports.

"The National Security and Defense Council also supported proposals to terminate participation of Ukrainian representatives in the activities of the CIS bodies and instructed the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine to take the corresponding measures regarding the termination of certain interstate agreements," reads the statement.

As reported, President Petro Poroshenko earlier stated that Ukraine would terminate its participation in the activities of the CIS coordinating bodies and asked the Foreign Ministry to prepare relevant proposals for withdrawing Ukrainian representatives from the CIS coordinating bodies.
