Merkel welcomes U.S. participation in settlement of Ukrainian situation

Germany has welcomed an active participation of the United States in the settlement of the situation in Ukraine.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said this at a press conference with U.S. President Donald Trump after their talks at the White House on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"Of course, we talked about Ukraine. We work very closely together on issues of Russia's actions, its occupation of Crimea and the situation in eastern Ukraine," Merkel said.
She is glad that the U.S. Administration works very closely on these issues with partners, which broadens the format of the Minsk agreements.
Germany is interested in good relationships with Russia, but it will continue protecting the democratic values along with the USA, ignored by Russia, Germany’s Chancellor stressed.
