Ukrainian lawmakers will return criminal liability for illegal border crossing, Poroshenko hopes

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hopes that the members of the Parliament will support the bill on criminal liability for illegal crossing of the Ukrainian border.
The President stated this at a meeting with the border guards on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of establishment of the border guard service of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"The lawmakers now discuss the initiatives on introduction and return of criminal liability for illegal border crossing, which was so imprudently canceled several years ago. I believe there will be the required majority to pass the law as soon as possible," Poroshenko noted.
"Strong border is a key element of our independence and an important element of the enhanced national security system of the state," the President said.
