Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will submit to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on the immediate and unilateral termination of certain clauses of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and Russia.

He stated this at the 11th Kyiv Security Forum organized by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The next step will be my submission to the Ukrainian parliament of a draft law on the immediate, unilateral revocation of certain clauses of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Ukraine and Russia in the part in which the effect of this treaty runs counter to the national interests of the state and the implementation of our Ukrainian right to self-defense," Poroshenko said

He stressed that such an opportunity is given to Ukraine by international law, and nobody can challenge the fact that Russian aggression against Ukraine makes certain articles of the treaty totally irrelevant.
