The European Union is aware of the recent events relating to Ukrainian MP Nadiya Savchenko and calls for the need to respect her rights.

"We know that MP Nadiya Savchenko was stripped of parliamentary immunity. We expect that the rule of law and her rights will be respected," a European Union representative said in a commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent.

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine gave its consent to the prosecution, detention and arrest of Ukrainian MP Nadiya Savchenko.

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko claimed that the investigation had irrefutable evidence that Savchenko personally plotted a terrorist attack in the Verkhovna Rada.
