Peace in Donbas to be one of tasks of German government – Merkel

The establishment of peace in Donbas and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity are among the main tasks of a new Federal Government of Germany in the international arena for the next four years.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said this in a report in the Bundestag on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported from Germany.
"The work on implementation of the Minsk agreements will be extended to ensure the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and to bring the relations with Russia to another level," the chancellor said.
She called the unlawful violation of internationally recognized borders by Russia as one of the great challenges of our time.
Merkel also stressed that the strength of Europe is in its unity.
