The European Union allocates EUR 24 million in humanitarian aid for the needs of the population in eastern Ukraine.

EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides announced this decision on Wednesday, a Brussels-based Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The European Commission announced the allocation of EUR 24 million in humanitarian aid to address the needs of the conflict-affected population in eastern Ukraine," the press service reports.

As the Commissioner noted, the next tranche of financial aid will be directed to help the most vulnerable segments of the population living along the demarcation line, including the territories that are not controlled by the Government of Ukraine.

As noted, the European Union has allocated a total of EUR 677 million in humanitarian aid to Donbas since 2014.
