Court releases Odesa Mayor Trukhanov
Judge Maksym Vyshniak read out a respective decision at a meeting on February 15, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
At the same time, the court ordered Trukhanov to hand in his passport and visit the investigator on demand.
On February 13, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) notified Trukhanov and three Odesa City Council officials of suspicion in the appropriation of property.
On February 14, Trukhanov was arrested at Kyiv's Boryspil Airport and served with a notice of suspicion. Deputy Mayor of Odesa Pavlo Vuhelman was also detained at Boryspil Airport.
The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) asked the court to arrest Trukhanov with an alternative to post UAH 50 million bail.
Trukhanov was absent in Odesa for more than one-and-a-half months.
According to the NABU, all these individuals are involved in the scheme of causing damage to the local budget of Odesa. In September 2016, Odesa City Council acquired a building that previously belonged to the integral property complex of the Krayan Plant from a private company for UAH 185 million. In early 2016, the private company bought this complex at an auction organized by the liquidator of the state enterprise for UAH 11.5 million.
