Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree dismissing Roman Romanov as director general of the Ukroboronprom State Concern, according to the official website of the head of state.

The respective decree, No. 26/2018, was posted on the president's website on Monday, February 12.

Earlier, Romanov said that he had tendered his resignation as head of Ukroboronprom. According to him, he submitted a statement of resignation as early as last year, and expressed hope that President Poroshenko would support this decision.

Romanov took up the post on July 4, 2014.

On December 27, 2017, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman advised Romanov to hand in his resignation due to wage arrears at Mykolaiv Shipyard. The premier made such a statement after workers of the plant came out for a protest rally and blocked a bridge in Mykolaiv.
