Valeria Gontareva is ready to report in the Verkhovna Rada on her activities as head of the National Bank of Ukraine.

President's representative in the Verkhovna Rada and MP from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction, Iryna Lutsenko, said this at a meeting of the Agenda-Setting Council on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"President of Ukraine has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a motion for the dismissal of Valeria Gontareva from the post of governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, as well as the appointment of acting head of the NBU Yakiv Smoliy to the relevant post. We are calling on factions to decide on the date and hold consultations with the candidate for this post in the near future and not delay the appointment process. Valeria Gontareva is ready to report on her activities to the parliament,” Lutsenko said.

As earlier reported, on January 18, President Poroshenko tabled in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution on Yakiv Smoliy's appointment as governor of the National Bank of Ukraine. At the same time, a decree to dismiss Gontareva from the post of NBU governor was registered.

On May 10, 2017, Gontareva filed a letter of resignation. According to the Constitution of Ukraine, the NBU head is appointed and dismissed by the Verkhovna Rada under a motion from the president.
