Volker: Zero ceasefire violations show peace is possible in Donbas

United States Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker believes that zero ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine on January 23 prove that peace in Donbas is possible upon the condition of political will.

"Yesterday, there were zero ceasefire violations which shows peace is possible with political will," Volker posted on Twitter.

He stressed in an interview with Radio Liberty that the United States would not negotiate about Ukraine without Ukraine.

"I stay closely coordinated with my Ukrainian counterparts from the Presidential Administration, the Foreign Ministry, the Verkhovna Rada and my French and German colleagues," Volker noted.

During his visit to Kyiv on January 23, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Volker met with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories Vadym Chernysh and Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov.

On January 26, Volker will meet with aide to the President of Russia Vladislav Surkov in Dubai.
