Law on reintegration strengthens Ukraine's positions in international courts - Turchynov
This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, the council's press service reports.
"By expanding the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other military formations, this law strengthens our positions on repelling armed aggression of the Russian Federation and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine," Turchynov said, adding that in this law, Russia "is clearly and unequivocally recognized as an aggressor state, and territories of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as occupied."
According to him, the law creates legal and organizational conditions for the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
Turchynov also said that the law completely blocks attempts by Russia to disguise the war against Ukraine as a "peacekeeping operation" and considerably strengthens Ukraine's positions in international courts.
On January 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted law No. 7163 on the peculiarities of state policy on ensuring Ukraine's state sovereignty over temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which recognizes Russia as an aggressor state carrying out temporary occupation of part of Ukrainian territory. A total of 280 people's deputies voted for the document.
