New law on national security aimed at Ukraine's membership in NATO and EU - Poroshenko
President Petro Poroshenko said this at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on Wednesday, the press service of the Head of State reported.
"This legislative act must bring the standards of the national security and defense in compliance with the standards of the national security of the European Union," Poroshenko said.
He stressed that this national legislative act in the sphere of security and defense must meet and ensure the reform of the security and defense sector of Ukraine and facilitate the improvement of our cooperation with the NATO countries.
“The draft law is aimed at Ukraine’s membership in both the EU and NATO, which must be an unconditional security guarantee of our state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the President said.
As reported, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) supported the bill on Ukraine's national security, which should become the basis for updating Ukrainian legislation in this area.
