Russia's plans to deploy S-400 in Crimea pose threat to whole Europe - Hopko

Russia's intention to deploy the S-400 missile systems in the occupied Crimea poses a threat to the whole of the European continent, so the United States and the EU countries must respond to this Russian action.

Chairperson of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Foreign Affairs Hanna Hopko said this on the air of 112 Ukraina TV Channel on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"In fact, this is a global problem. Since the invasion of Crimea and its occupation Russia has been trying to militarize Crimea, to place nuclear weapons there and create a danger not only to the entire Black Sea region and neighboring countries. Therefore, as for the statements that we hear right now, I think that we need transatlantic efforts, because Ukraine alone cannot resist all intentions and plans [of Russia]," Hopko said.

In her opinion, our allies, in particular the United States and the EU countries, should react to "these horrors" from Russia, because this is the issue of security for the whole of the European continent.

As reported, the Russian Federation intends to deploy the S-400 missile systems in the occupied Crimea for "protection against air threats from Ukraine."
