President congratulates Ukrainians on Christmas according to Gregorian calendar
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said this in a statement on the occasion of the Christmas Day celebrated on December 25 according to the Gregorian calendar.
"Today, our people demonstrate to the whole world an amazing willpower, strongly retaliate against the enemy, which seeks to destroy the unity and independence of the Ukrainian state, and jointly build a European country," the Head of State said.
The President wishes that God's grace will always be generous to all families and the Ukrainian land.
On December 25, the entire Catholic world, as well as many Protestants and Orthodox churches, celebrate Christmas.
The Verkhovna Rada approved a bill on making December 25 an official non-working holiday in Ukraine.
